Gearing Up For Open House

Are you a future St. Joseph’s Knight or do you know someone who might be a future Knight?

If so, we’re excited about the prospect of meeting you and your parents in the coming months as we begin a new admissions season. Please pay particular attention to the events, dates, and deadlines listed below:

OPEN HOUSE, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2014 AT 1:00 P.M.

Here’s the event you’ve been waiting for! Spend an hour or two with us on Sunday afternoon, November 9th to learn more about our middle school and/or high school programs, pick up a 2015-2016 application packet, tour the facility with current students, and meet many of our teachers, coaches, and parents. This is a family day, so prospective students (of all ages!) and their parents are welcome.

APPLICATIONS FOR FALL 2015 ENROLLMENT

We will begin accepting applications for fall 2015 enrollment the Monday following our Open House. Applicants should strive to get their application into the school office as soon as possible, but by mid-December if preferable. That way, you are more likely to receive your preferred testing date (see below) and be in the first round of notifications that go out around March 15th. Once you have submitted your application, you have completed the first step in the admissions process. Remember, when it comes to getting the application completed, “the early bird gets the worm!”

ADMISSIONS TESTING FOR FALL 2015 ENROLLMENT

You’re now on your way to becoming a Knight! Priority testing will be held on one of two Saturdays: January 10, 2015, or February 7, 2015. Students who test on one of these two dates will get the first look and will be the first to receive notification (around March 15th). Any incoming ninth grader who tests on one of these two dates will also be in the running for one of two academic merit scholarships awarded each year to high school freshmen. The last scheduled testing date is Saturday, March 14, 2015.

HIGH SCHOOL SHADOWING VISITS

If you’re a ninth grade applicant, you will be invited to campus to shadow a current high school freshman as part of the admissions process. Shadowing dates are scheduled by the Admissions Office following the Admissions Testing, so beginning in January 2015, we will pair incoming ninth grade students¬†with our Freshmen Student Ambassadors based on similar interests. Applicants will spend the day sitting in on freshmen classes, meeting freshmen teachers, and seeing what student life is like at St. Joe’s. By the end of the day, most students can’t wait to become a Knight!

MIDDLE SCHOOL BRING A FRIEND DAY FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2015

Are you a prospective middle school student who would also like to see what life is like at St. Joe’s? While we don’t offer middle school shadowing, we do offer one day where prospective middle school students can come take a look. St. Joseph’s middle school students will be encouraged to bring a friend (from grades 5-8) to school for half a day of classes and lunch on January 16, 2015. Greenville County Schools have the day off on this date, so that should make it easier for more students to be able to attend. Don’t know a St. Joe’s middle school student who could host your child? No worries! We will find a host for you. Look for the registration forms on our website in December.

PRIORITY DEADLINE FOR FINANCIAL AID FORMS IS FRIDAY, JANUARY 30, 2015

Since its early beginnings, the school has been committed to offering an excellent, Catholic, college-preparatory education to qualified students who wish to attend, regardless of their ability to pay. The school offers a limited amount of funding each year to qualifying students and their families for the upcoming school year, and offers two plans depending on grade level: Flexible Tuition Program (for high school applicants) and Tuition Assistance Program (for middle school applicants). Award amounts may vary from year to year and are based upon the number of qualifying families, their need, and available funds. The forms for applying for this need-based assistance can be found on our website under Admissions, beginning December 2014. The deadline for submitting all financial aid paperwork is January 31, 2015.

SCHOOL TOURS

If prospective parents and students would like to schedule a private tour, we are happy to do this at just about any time during the school year. During the year, tours are scheduled at 8:00 A.M. on most weekdays (except Wednesdays) and usually last about an hour. Please schedule your tour in advance by calling (864) 234-9009, Ext. 104.
